Trouble with your son?

Center's latest white paper offers new hope

Behavior challenges are increasing in families all across America.  Even if you are a great parent, you might often feel like you are to blame if your child misbehaves.  Simple and consistent in-home discipline offers an effective means to raising most children, but if you have been caught off guard by your child's behavior, read on.  Some children present issues that simply go beyond what most parents are prepared for or able to deal with on a daily basis. As a result, you've probably looked for assistance from self-help books or through advice from friends. However, since each child and family environment is unique, these efforts (while well-intentioned) will often fail to meet the specific needs of your family.

Often as a last resort, or in extreme cases, you might begin looking for highly-structured environments such as military schools or other out-of-home placement.  While many of the programs recommended by NCJI can be an effective alternative, often there are still problems if your only goal is that somehow your child will return to you ‘fixed’.  You may be disappointed to find that the same behaviors you sent them for treatment for spring up again within a

few weeks of returning because the triggers in the home environment have not been addressed.

The National Center for Juvenile Intervention has just released a  White Paper: The Four Secrets to Solving All Known Behavior Problems which is designed to educate and help you discern for yourself what the best strategy is for your child.  It also includes a copy of NCJIs Child Evaluation Tool which you can use to effectively evaluate your own family situation and determine what program is right for you.  Request your copy today by email.
